& Scott Boyle

Open House: August , 4 - 6 pm

“Now as I’m older I’ve thought about what it is about nature… and I think it’s just the ethereal effect and vibrations I think we all experience just being out in nature.”  - Scott Boyle

  • Margaret Salisbury developed a love for painting landscapes after a plein air workshop in Italy. She continued to evolve her techniques by learning from her mentor, who profoundly said, “The world is your vehicle for color.” A statement that stuck with Margaret throughout her career. By combining all of her inspirations Margaret captures the beauty of the areas she avidly hikes and uses her favorite colors to paint the world through her own eyes. She leans into her favorite oranges, yellows, and greens to represent The Appalachian Mountains with a bright and technicolor perspective.

  • Scott Boyle is a well-traveled man. As a pilot he has seen much of the world, yet chooses to hike and paint the wonders of the North Carolina mountains. He explores and paints the rich green foliage, the crystal clear waterfalls, and vast balds of The Appalachian Mountains to The Great Smokies and beyond. Scott is particular about his painting style though. He does not represent things exactly as they are, but enhances them. Using a heavy application of paint in some areas, an emphasis on light and atmosphere, and a vivid color palette, Scott captures the feeling of the place itself.

The Appalachian Mountains are among the oldest in the world and have long been a subject to many artists and those seeking a deeper connection with the natural world. It is commonplace to find artists flocking to areas of significant natural beauty for many reasons: inspiration, peace, the freedom to explore and reflect upon the aspects of that beauty.

Margaret & Scott both love exploring the mountains and using their artistic talents to capture the natural world in their own forms of expression.
